Syria ...it's happening right now by Burgi687 Syria ...it's happening right now by Burgi687
Stencil of a destroyed city in Syria
(I added the little boy to the original picture)

6 colors, 5 layers

I took me two months to finish this one. I chose 250gr paper for the stencils because the subject is so rich in detail. But the cutting wasn't easy on my nerves and fingers...worth it!

Edit:1. Thank you all for the DD! I've never expected this and thanks for making this piece my most popular one.

Edit:2. I never thougt I have to write this, but THANK YOU ALL for the favs and watches and of course llamas. I'm sorry I can't possibly thank every single one.

i wake up in the morning to
the cries of hurt and anger,
i wished i'd wake up to
cries of joy and laughter ..

i wake up every morning hoping
it will all be gone,
but the fighting - the war
has only just begun ..

i'd play out in my mind that
i could beg for them to stop just for a while,
but no ! what do they care
i'm just a war child ..

A brief lesson in source critisism " In relation to a given purpose, a given information source may be more or less valid, reliable or relevant." The original photo is - A view of Tripoli street, in the Libyan port city of Misrata, seen from a destroyed building used by Qaddafi's snipers during the battle for the control of Misrata on July 1, 2011. (Gianluigi Guercia/AFP/Getty Images) [link]

No it does not make the work of art any worse but it does raise questions about the motives behind the work.

Breathtaking and painfully real. This is a great piece of work and it sends a message. The scenario painted is happening right now, as you wrote and this is what people need to change.
